Our sincere thanks to all those who participated in the Turning of the first Soil for Siquilla Retirement Residences.
We are delighted to share this update and images marking a truly special moment for Siquilla, with the official onsite ceremony taking place on Thursday 30 April.
The ceremony started with a tremendous Traditional Smoking Ceremony by Uncle John, to prepare the land for new beginnings along with a Traditional Welcome to Country on the Dharawal lands by Elder Aunty Glenda, with speeches led by David McDonald, Chairman, with Michael Lavorato, Chief Executive Officer, Campbelltown Catholic Club, officiating as MC for the occasion. We also heard from special guests Minister Anoulack Chanthivong, Mayor Darcy Lound, and Taylor Constructions CEO, Mark Taylor sharing their support for the Catho's commitment to delivering an amazing quality community in the heart of Campbelltown.
They were joined by key project partners who have played an important role in getting Siquilla to this point.
With initial construction work well underway by Taylor Construction, Siquilla's future residents were encouraged to bring their own shovels (or spades) and join in with the ceremony, as we recognise this exciting next chapter.
That's feel good retirement.
